50 / 50 Challenge Update - May 2019

Since launching our 50 Things for 50 Years challenge back in February, our favourite florist has been pretty busy as she races towards raising £30k for The Prince of Wales Hospice!

With her 12th challenge approaching this weekend, here's a summary of the stand-out ones she's ticked off her list so far...

Shell's 50th Birthday Bash

A perfect way to launch this ambitious challenge; Shell kicked off her fundraising target at The Ambience in Pontefract. Celebrating her 50th with family, friends and customers. The night saw a room full of dancing, laughing and fundraising. With Hospice Charity Star Jars filled throughout the evening. These jars alone have raised £1600 to date, proving that every little penny does help!

The Off Road Challenge

Gifted as one of Shell's 50th birthday presents, Michelle tackled a bumpy track in a 4x4 landrover.  Sponsored by friends and customers, she was determined to finish without crashing and within a decent time!

Braving The Clouds

Donated by our customer and friend, Pat, Shell took to the skies of North Yorkshire in a glider. Harnessing the power of nature (with a qualified pilot, thankfully!) the day was a little breezy, which saw Michelle feel a little queasy. Doing another thing out of her comfort zone, she braved the clouds and did her sponsors proud! 

50 Fruits In A Week

From watermelon to lychee, Shell literally ate her way through the fruit alphabet. Just as we were all fancying comfort food in the midst of Winter, she saw the challenge through!

Larder Love at Jilly's

Our friend Jilly invited Shell to go to her larder and make a batch of lemon curd. Not only did Shell get to try out a new skill, Jilly donated the whole batch to be sold in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice. Productive, fun & delicious - we still have a few jars left at the shop if you'd like to try!

Only 3 months in, we are so grateful to everyone who has donated so far. Thank you all so much!

We still have a long way to go before we reach our target so hopefully the above have inspired you... whilst you might not have spare money, we have got this far through people sparing their valuable time; donating tea sets and raffle prizes.
